The final stretch is here! To ensure you are fully prepared for the challenge ahead, the Society will host a new initiative event “Final Battle Prep – Level III Essay Seminar and Mock Exam (Aug 2026)” in the afternoon of 11 July 2026.
Join us for an insightful seminar hosted by the experienced industry professionals, Mr. Zap Cheng, CFA, the Society's Candidate Services Committee Co-chair and an experienced exam grader. He will guide you though strategies to master the Essay section of the CFA Level III exam.
During the Essay seminar, you will gain
- Valuable exam tips for handling essay questions
- Exam essay strategies on dissecting the challenging topics
- Useful techniques for practical essay questions
After the seminar, you’ll have a crucial opportunity to experience a realistic exam practice in a simulated testing environment. Our Candidate Services Committee member, Mr. Benjamin Xu, CFA, Society Candidate Services Committee Member and an experienced exam grader will dissect and analyse the mock questions with you to fortify your comprehension of the materials.
During the Mock exam, you will
- Complete a customized mock paper test to assess your readiness
- Identify key areas for final review
In collaboration with UWorld, the Society will also provide a UWorld online CFA mock exam after the event, so you can conquer the final hurdle together.

About the Speakers
Mr. Zap Cheng, CFA
Candidate Services Committee Co-chair
Zap currently serves as Co-Chair of the Candidate Services Committee at CFA Society Hong Kong, where he brings extensive experience as a CFA study group leader, supporting candidates in successfully completing the CFA Program across Levels I, II, and III.
In addition to being a CFA Charterholder, Zap is also a qualified accountant and holds a master’s degree in Corporate Finance.
With around 20 years professional experience in the industry. Currently, Zap is the Co-Founder of a boutique consultancy company specialized in ESG and sustainability for APAC clients.
His previous professional responsibilities and expertise span across the design, implementation, and interpretation of accounting standards, as well as the enhancement of regulatory compliance, financial reporting, valuation, liability management, and climate risk modelling systems for the insurance and banking sectors across the APAC and EMEA regions.
Mr. Benjamin Xu, CFA
Candidate Services Committee Member
Benjamin is one of the experienced and senior members in candidate services committee in CFA Society Hong Kong with many years’ experiences in leading the study groups to pass the CFA Exams in terms of all the levels. Besides, he also serves as a CFA exam grader and judge for Research Challenge Competition.
Professionally, he is an experienced manager in Vincorn Consulting & Appraisal Limited with more than 9 years’ experiences in business valuation, including company valuation, merger consideration allocation, intangible assets, and financial instrument appraisals, as well as modelling and review work for different industries and clients advise on valuations for purposes such as mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, transactional, litigation use and internal reference.
About the Emcees
Mr. David Ching, CFA
Society Vice President and Candidate Services Committee Co-chair
David Ching is the Investment Director at Animoca Brands. A seasoned investor and business builder, he brings over two decades of experience spanning traditional finance and emerging technologies, with deep expertise and distinctive insights in artificial intelligence, digital assets, and energy transition.
David graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours on a full scholarship, and is Honorary President of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Hong Kong. Over his career, he has held senior roles including Chief Strategist and Portfolio Manager at leading financial institutions such as Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Macquarie, and Polymer Capital. His exceptional track record has earned him multiple Best Analyst awards from Institutional Investor and recognition by StarMine as one of Asia’s top stock pickers.
David is a regular speaker and convener on AI adoption in financial services, agentic infrastructure, regulatory frameworks for digital assets, and the convergence of TradFi and Web3. He is committed to building the bridges — technical, regulatory, and human — that allow institutions to navigate this transition with clarity. He recently presented the same framework to a packed house at the FTAHK AI Agents Workshop co-hosted with Tencent Cloud.
David is Vice President of the CFA Society Hong Kong, and Founding Chairman of the Web3 & FinTech SubCommittee.
Dr. Francis Lau, CFA
Candidate Services Committee Member
Dr. Francis Lau is an active CFA member serving the Candidate Services and Career Development committees. He has over 22 years of experience in business planning, data analytics, financial modelling, management information, and risk management acquired from working for multinational analytics vendors, banks, consulting firms, and universities. Dr. Lau is also a recognized trainer in compliance, data science, financial markets, risk management, and sustainability. He has extensive exposures in developing and delivering academic and professional education programs for corporations, professional associations and universities.

- Your event registration will be considered invalid if you are not an Aug 2026 CFA Level III exam candidate.

- Limited seats are available for the mock exam. The registration is on first-come-first-served basis.
- If you are unable to attend, please inform the Society at your earliest convenience so that the seat may be offered to another interested participant. Failure to attend without providing prior notice to the Society may impact your eligibility to register for or participate in future Society events.
- Event reminders will be sent out 1 day before the event. If you did not receive the email confirmation and reminder, it is the delegate’s responsibility to contact CFA Society Hong Kong (the “Society”) to confirm their reservations.
- Please arrive at the venue 5-10 minutes in advance of the session start time. The event will start promptly at the designated time.
